To all of our Friends at Red Hook UMC and beyond,
Isaiah said: “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31
I dare say, there are many among us who are, indeed, weary.
We are weary of this COVID, weary of masks, and weary of social spacing.
Weary of the daily death count reminding me of the nightly news during the War in Vietnam.
We are afflicted, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.
2Cor 4:8
Sure, we are weary, but we are thankful.
Thankful for our loved ones, near or far.
Thankful for the blessings of shelter and sustenance.
Thankful for the opportunities to offer help to those without.
Sure, we are weary, but we are thankful.
Thankful for our Church and Congregation, even if we don’t see each other as often as we used to or would like to.
Thankful for the knowledge that with a vaccine coming soon, we can see the end of all of this discomfort.
Thankful that through all of this, the love that binds us together is not diminished.
My Friends, I want to let you know that I am thankful for all of you.
I am thankful in the knowledge that together, we will work through this thing in the strength of Christ. Phil 4:13
There are sacrifices required of some of us but not beyond what we can bear.
Happy Thanksgiving, in His Peace, Pastor Steve
